- Downloaded and forwarded in one click
- Crash and speed data combined
- The same numbers for everyone

## A smart view of the road

A focused approach to road safety starts with objective numbers. BLIQ translates complex crash and speed data into an accessible report that shows a jurisdiction's trend and areas of concern at a glance. The list of the most dangerous intersections and road segments shows where to act first.

The content is deliberately kept simple, with short texts, definitions and explanations, so that everyone interprets the numbers the same way. This keeps road safety on the agenda for cities, counties and law enforcement, and ensures everyone works from the same information — the basis for a shared, proactive approach, as the Safe System Approach calls for.

## BLIQ in numbers

One report that agencies and partners can act on together.

- **3×** — Per year: a draft, a final annual and a half-year report
- **5 years** — Trend graph based on a moving monthly average
- **2 sources** — Crashes from CHP and speeds from HERE

## Two sources, one complete picture

BLIQ combines the two most important sources for road safety: crash records from the California Highway Patrol's California Crash Reporting System (CCRS) and speed data from Floating Car Data provider HERE.

The report shows the number of people killed and injured by age and travel mode, how that has developed over recent years, the risk of speeding and the list of the most dangerous intersections and road segments. Who is involved, and when and where does it happen?

## The two sources behind BLIQ

- **Crashes** — Where crashes happen, who is involved and how the number of people killed and injured has developed over the years. · bron: CHP – CCRS · Updated per report · California
- **Speeds** — Actual speeds on the road network: where speeding is persistent and how large that risk is. · Updated per report · Statewide coverage

## Ready to forward

Agencies and law enforcement download the ready-made report in a single click. The report is immediately suitable for forwarding to the city council, the board of supervisors, a transportation commission or colleagues — no editing required.

## From priority to analysis

BLIQ is more than a report: it is the starting point for in-depth analysis. Its graphs and maps connect seamlessly to VIA Software, where areas of concern can be explored further with filters, detailed information and daily-updated numbers. There you find the cause, choose the countermeasure and later use a before/after report to see whether it works.

Using the CROSS method, BLIQ crosses the crash score of an intersection or route with its speed score to explain why a location is unsafe. The most dangerous locations are interactive and link through to the public CROSS speed map on bliq.report, which is freely accessible to everyone.
